Everyone is always asking me how I mix things together to create a “lived in” style. I’m sure a lot of you can relate. I can walk into craft and primitive shops and immediately fall in love with the greenery, black and vintage pieces, but that is only a part of my style. Sometimes I consider my style “country”, but I also have a weakness for mid-century furniture and an appreciation of real wood, but love a good chalk painted piece. See the struggle! In reality, country and modern can exist cohesively, it just takes a little time, multiple flops and failures to eventually find your perfect mix!
Today I wanted to share a few of my favorite pieces from Target’s new Project 62 line. The pieces lean towards a mid-century style, are all SO affordable and the clean lines make them so versatile and classic! I hope you may be able to find a few pieces for your home to start your eclectic mix!
These are such great affordable options ($16.99 each!) for wood cutting boards that can also double as counter decor too! Check out pinterest for all the latest countertop styling in the “modern farmhouse” projects and you’re bound to find layered wood cutting boards propped up against backsplashes.
With a $19.99 price tag for these 18″ x 18″ pillows, you can afford to layer a few across your couch or mix a few on your bed. These woven pillows bring in a lot of natural texture and there are a lot of great ones out there but their price tags can be a little steep anywhere from $75 to $100+.
Chances are you probably have a lot of picture frames that are wood, black or white, but no metals. Consider investing in a few frames of mixed metals. Creating a grouping of all different frame finishes gives a more eclectic and collected look, rather than frames of all the same finish.
If I had the space in my living room for a pair of chairs, these would be high on my list! The seat is deep enough for a lumbar pillow and wide enough to sit with a child on your lap to read a book or watch a movie.
I love the functionality and modern lines of this media console. Having closed and open storage is always a must for me, as well as a low height. This console measures 24″ high, which is a perfect height for viewing TV from a seated position on your sofa.Layering lighting is essential. Sometimes people get stuck in a rut and buy upholstered furniture all the same material, pair it with 2 end tables and a coffee table all in the same wood and then put a pair of matching table lamps on those end tables and wonder why they don’t like it. Design is an ever evolving process. It’s a collection of things you truly love and shouldn’t be rushed. Each piece that comes into your home should either be something you think is beautiful or serves a function for you, the goal is to find pieces that can do both.
And because I couldn’t narrow down my selections I have linked a few other small pieces and accessories that also loved below. Happy shopping!
